One of eleven children of a devout Catholic family, Fr. Matthew Spencer is an Oblate of St. Joseph in the Guardian of the Redeemer Province of California, USA. Prior to entering the seminary, Fr. Matthew received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. In May 2009 he completed a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Spiritual Theology, in which he wrote a thesis on St. Joseph's influence in the hidden life of the spirituality of St. Joseph Marello. He was ordained to the priesthood in July 2009 and currently serves as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bakersfield, CA, USA. He is actively involved in the research of Gregorian Chant and in the development of tools for the digitization of sacred music.
